Could this error be caused by using the older GSHHS data set instead of the newer GSHHG? I, too, have the same pscoast issue on Ubuntu 14.04, and noticed that GSHHG is presently unavailable in the Ubuntu repositories. We will try to find out who and why and how, but it is not our doing.
