Re: pscoast: GMT_non_zero_winding given non-closed polygon

Could this error be caused by using the older GSHHS data set instead of the newer GSHHG?  I, too, have the same pscoast issue on Ubuntu 14.04, and noticed that GSHHG is presently unavailable in the Ubuntu repositories.  Thus the current GMT build is using the older coastline/land/border data files.

Those who are building the official gmt package for ubuntu must be using some unknown compiler options that results in bad executables.  We will try to find out who and why and how, but it is not our doing.  I suggest you just get the source and built GMT yourself; no such problems then.
