r.clump on floating map

Hi devs, How is r.clump suppose to handle floating rasters? I ran the function on a floating raster, and threshold value set to 0 (default). The values represent gradually changing values. Yet, it returned a map with rather large clusters consisting of raster cells that do not have the same values.
