Source build configuration pause

This is a very low priority question. A few months ago when I upgraded source files from the subversion trunk and ran my configuration script it started to pause for a minute or so when it looked for subversion (/usr/bin/svn). This pause had not happened before and I'm curious what might be behind this. Since the command is 'svn up' and files from truck are checked out the utility must be present. There's nothing in my configuration script since that species only options to the build. Any thoughts on why this pause occurs?
