Use of RS images

Hello all,

I am trying to do an estimate of the cost of a project using satellite
images. I guess in this list there are lots of people working in
different thematic areas, so I could get an interesting sampling of
the user community.

I suppose that a projet where RS images are used can be split in the
following phases:

1. Identification of the sensor(s) suitable for the application.
2. Search for the data (date, acquisition mode, etc.)
3. Data pre-processing:
   a. radiometric corrections
   b. geometric corrections (geocoding, mosaics, ect.)
4. Image processing: information extraction (classification,
vectorization, object recognition, etc.)
5. Information exploitation (use of the information in a GIS, decision
taking, etc.)

My goal is stablishing the cost ratio between these activities
(budget+human ressources) for a project and try to show that point
nb. 5, which is the use of the specific knowledge of the image user,
has a very low cost with respect to the others. If this is true, one
can assume that making data handling (pre-processing and processing)
easier, can help develop the use of RS images.

I would very much appreciate if you took the time to fill in this
simple form.
