Seconded! I have and frequently use ~10 smart bookmarks.

Supporting OpenSearch description files linked using <link 
type="search"> would be one way of allowing the user to easily add 
additional search engines. See: <http://www.opensearch.org/>, 
<https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/Creating_OpenSearch_plugins_for_Firefox>.
