why should that be in the docs? For users it's only important that 
gkrellm has such a display but not where it gets its information from. 
The ones that might be interested (developers) can still read the code 
(which is in sysdeps/linux.c for the part you are asking for). Anyway, 
on linux it's /proc/stat.
