I can confirm the same behavior on Fedora 8. In fact I've posted this
question on this list several months ago as a reply for this post
(http://www.nabble.com/sudden-problem-to12648069.html#a12664284). For
some reason I had an impression that this is the same problem I have,
and I was hoping the author will share his thoughts. Nobody replied
though.

In short: local images do show up and cycle according to the script.
Remote images either don't work at all or show up occasionally with no
obvious correlation. I also found this problem being discussed on ubuntu
forums, thus it must be not limited to mandriva and fedora.

I'm running F9 x86_64 and F8 i386 on x86_64 hardware, should this matter.
