rare io timeouts on client-server-connection

Hiho, sometimes my gkrellm-clients (2.3.2 + some new stuff) running on windows get disconnected from a gkrellmd 2.3.1 running on Debian lenny. The worst thing however is, that a reconnect after the timeout hangs forever waiting for the initial gkrellmd_setup answer that should be sent from gkrellmd. I'm currently thinking about backporting gkrellmd 2.3.2 to lenny so I can finally get some logging out of gkrellmd. Has anybody else seen strange disconnects from a gkrellmd running on another machine? Is the timeout- and reconnect-logic working properly? Especially the failing reconnect makes me think that gkrellmd has buggy socket-handling.
