daemon in kde autostart and running client-server cured the duplicating problem.. or at 
least bypassed it. i still do not comprehend why something i have run for years suddenly 
gets duplicated and only that one thing after changing to kde4... if this happens again to 
something else then i will start 'pushing' at the kde people to find out why.

lotsa irritating things that make me think kde4 is not ready for production. main thing is 
when i restart the machine , browser windows i had open when i shut down open up 
minimized. i never minimize anything and before kde4 , i never even had a task bar applet 
installed. until this irritating behavior gets fixed i have to keep one around :(
