Not able to launch webcam; no video

I have my laptop webcam LED fire up just fine..., indicating an application is using it. But Ekiga's video preview doesn't show anything. And the 'Call Window' File and Call menu options are all greyed out.. Thoughts ? Ekiga 'detect device' lists it as 'USB 2.0 HD UVC WebCam (PTLIB/DirectShow)'.. and does detect it..
