but bookkeeping ultimately exists to serve the business. While statutory
reporting requires unfiltered data, internal business management relies
heavily on filtered views and those same familiar layouts can unlock deeper
financial insights.

A clear use case is evaluating specific projects or enterprises without
permanently bloating the chart of accounts. Filtering at the transaction
level is essential for management, forecasting, and internal auditing. For
example, QuickBooks achieves this effectively by allowing users to apply
filters directly within the standard P&L layout showing transaction detail.
