Never mind, doesn't work.

If the 'tag account' doesn't have an amount, it will show as zero in the 
report, thus pointless.

And if you try to delete that account, there is no option to 'do 
nothing' with the transactions linked to it. You only get to move 
(re-assign) them or delete them. Deleting them removes them from all 
linked registers, even though there are more than one remaining splits.

I didn't test 'moving' them to one of those remaining accounts so don't 
know if it would choke or duplicate.

Either way, without being able to see an amount in the report, there's 
no point in going through further trouble.

The in-transaction tags with the Transaction Report is the way to go.
