Re: [GNC] Problem with "Find"

As far as "from the beginning of time," as documented in the manual, rather than use the Accounts tab, use the General Journal. Then apply a register filter, which thanks to Bob, can with v5.16 be logical. But the good 'ole system of just entering dates is fine too.

Once you have the General Journal filtered the way you want, you can use find in the limited date range.

If I were looking for the intersection (logical AND) between two accounts [there is basically no limit to the logic using a spreadsheet, so if you want ("Doctors & Dentists" AND (Account 1 or Account 2)) that's also possible], and if it was overly burdensome to just look back in the register, then I would set the filter on the General Journal, export the register to CSV, load the CSV into a spreadsheet, and then all the data is present to produce the information requested.

If the "Doctors & Dentists" account does not have many register entries, then just export that register CSV, and edit it down in your favorite spreadsheet. This is similar to the look back in the register itself. The same can be done with the various credit card accounts.

I offer the above as one possibility; there are other ways to get to the information.
