Fair enough. Use .gnumeric, .xlsx, or .ods. Any of these attach semantics to the data they carry. They are equally good for this purpose and can be converted from one to the other. If you were working with Excel, the recommendation would be .xlsx only and if you were working with LO it would be .xlsx or .ods. With respect to the configurable text importer, that is for use when a specific text file isn't handled by the automatics. Basically any text-in-columns type file should stand a fair chance of being something we can handle. On the down side, it's not automatic. Morten
