Translation question: render

Hello

I wonder in what context "render" is used in the following strings:

#: src/cache_maint.c:1220
msgid "Render"

#: src/cache_maint.c:1223
msgid "Render thumbnails for a specific folder."

is it "draw to screen" or is it "create for later viewing" or something 
else ?
