image comments / exif / fullscreen information (I)

hi all

why are the image comments saved in separate files and not inside the
image as exif comment? this gave me two problems: first no other program
can read the comments. second when i renamed the image folder, the
comments where not found anymore since the metadata folder was not
adjusted accordingly.

second point. i like the fullscreen information (I) alot. but i'd like
to see other things there like the image comment and also (part of) the
image path.

what do you think about these points?

if you would give me some hints about where to begin, i could try to
write a patch myself.
