Some time ago I mentioned to John that I wanted to add some support to
gqview to browse Canon Raw format digital photos. He pointed me in the
right direction on how to implement it.
This weekend I had a hack-attack and today I finally completed it. I
want to announce that I have a patch for gdk-pixbuf that will allow
any GNOME application to display the embedded JPEG in the raw photos
(the raw data is not converted, instead i extract the JPEG, it is
faster).
here is an example:

Here is a screenshot. If anybody is interested in the patch, let me
know. I am talking to the GTK+ people and trying to incorporate my
code as experimental.
The next step is to work on gqview to add display of the image
information.
