Requesting the feature be added would certainly have raised a flag, at least I
would have responded earlier. Also it is a small patch that seems to fulfill a
very specific need.

I have added this to the TODO as a wishlist item, but I would implement this
very differently:
  -works with both "," + "." and "<" + ">" keys.
-the keys only work when a slideshow is running (see next line)
-only effects the current slideshow (global var is unchanged)
-an overlay will briefly appear displaying the new value
-I don't know which GQview version you made the patch on,
but slideshow_delay now represents time in tenths of a second.
-It will work regardless of full screen mode.

If you find a clean way to do this, please submit the patch as I have been
meaning to fix this for quite a while.

The last few releases have had an info window that can be displayed when in full
screen by pressing the "I" key. You may want to hook into that or provide a
similar on screen display for feedback using an image overlay.

May I ask which commands or functions you feel need or lack feedback when in
full screen?

...Well ok, now that I think about it, the question refers to functions other
than slideshow pause/continue :)

In list view or icon view (or both), what is broken?

(If the problem is broken multiple selection with the keyboard, it was a bug in
GTK 2.2 and is fixed in GTK 2.6 and I _think_ also 2.4)
