This is a very good idea and I often find it missing myself, it will be added as
suggested above for the 1.5.9 release.

If you have thumbnail caching enabled, the similarity/checksums/dimensions data
for each image is also supposed to be cached, but testing it I see there is a
simple bug that blocks the saving of the data - will fix this for 1.5.9.
