gqview: does not show my image files at all ?

Hi,
   I am having trouble using gqview.
'
   These are the problem i faced:

  1) I have stored 3 images ash.gif, ash.jpg, ash.jpeg, ash.bmp in one
of the directories.
      gqview is not listing these files at all in side the directories.

   I am not able to see any files

  I get these messages:

  I dont know what is the problem.

  Please help.
