On the 'filtering' tab of the preferences dialog (under edit menu), you can 
change the file extensions that are displayed.

Click a line once, then again to edit the extensions for that file type. Or 
if you do not want to mess with the defaults use the add button and a 
".new" file type will appear at the bottom of the list, you can then edit 
that to include your custom extensions.

When listing multiple extensions, separate them with a semicolon ";".


Note: If you just want all files visible in the list, enable 'disable file 
filtering' above the file types list, but I do not recommend it.
