animated .gif support

I'm on GQView 2.0.1 (Debian hasn't packaged up a newer version yet,
apparently), and I note that it still doesn't have support for rendering
animated .gif files.

once a long time ago, someone wrote a patch that supported animated .gifs;
whatever happened to that? I have some CAD drawings made into animated .gif
movies, which would be kind of nice to look at with GQView.
