I dont know how can it be... here: 
http://www.inrim.it/~magni/snapshot1.png is what <I> see onscreen.
Both the image and the thumbnail are "smeared" towards right.
(my system uname: Linux lambda2.intra.inrim.it 2.6.18-1.2239.fc5 #1 Fri 
Nov 10 13:04:06 EST 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux)
