Re "who I am": if you have parents, maybe you can get a little
information from them.  Also, consulting a local priest or shaman can
sometimes be helpful, sometimes not.

Re TIFF support: what distro are you using?  I use Gentoo, and I
discovered that if I don't have "tiff" in my USE flags then none of my
image programs get TIFF support.  But it's not gqview you have to
recompile, it's gtk+ or gdkpixbuf or something.
