Hi,

is there a strace command in MacOS? Or some other Debugging tool? I tested
    	strace mcedit 2>.log

and got a fine log of what is done starting mcedit. Searching for
"mcedit" in this log shows a lot of files trying to open on startup,
some of them in .local/share/mc... (there is searched for a file
".local/share/mc/mc.macros" for instance ... others in .config,

...seems there are several places where settings can be stored.

And if you don't have "root" on MacOS... AFAIK Administrator on MacOS is
usually called "Admin", but looking into your "Users & Groups" shall
tell you the name and you will be able to check his configs...
