mc slow start after upgrade from 4.8.22 to 4.8.29

Hello,

I have recently upgraded my Debian system from 10 to 12 (mc 4.8.22 to
4.8.29), and I am noticing small slowdown when I start mc.

It is barely noticeable, perhaps from 100 ms previously to 250 ms now.

But since I use mc so often, and start so frequently, it is little bit
annoying.

Has anything changed between the versions, that would explain the slowdown?

Can I do anything about it?

I have also noticed the syntax of the config files have changed
(mc.ext.ini). Is this perhaps related? (ie, some internal parsing is
different)
