In Midnight Commander I can press enter on a jpg or gif and they open with Mirage, but webp pictures don't do anything when I press enter

I'm not sure why mc is able to open the jpg, gif, or movie files, but I like that feature and wish I could get the webp pictures and animation files to open with Mirage also. I installed: sudo apt install webp-pixbuf-loader webp and this made it so Mirage can open them automatically if I press enter on any of the images in SpaceFM or zzzfm file managers, but not with mc. Any ideas how to get them to open like jpg files do? BTW, Thanks very much to the Developers of this GREAT program. I use it every day.
