Hi,

I saw the same delays here on my laptop depending on network situation.

Not sure, what "DNS can't resolve itself" means: "ping localhost" works, 
127.0.0.1 is in /etc/hosts ... whatever...

What I saw is - no delay if system has a working internet route... but 
maybe, it's only some DNS in the internet that sends a questioning 
packet back to my laptop.
