Thanks a lot for doing this! Things seems to working very good.

We have now done all the API changes, at least those we knew were
needed, and also documented most of the API, mostly with the exception
of oneliner descriptions of structs and objects. 

Everything should be set for Python bindings now. Feel free to commit
your python patches :)
