Unsucessful install?

I've recently installed MrProject 0.6 and libmrproject, on my Suse 8.1 OS. 
When the program is started, the only visible icons are the top bar are 'New' 
,'Open' and 'Save'. 
The program starts up but I don't get any further. Is this a known problem, if 
so what am I missing.?
