How to take care of tasks with fixed duration (being shown as 1d work)

Hello All,
Let us say we are arranging a conference. We publish the call for 
papers, and wait for the papers with a deadline of say 30th July. What 
kind task type do you suggest for this? I thought fixed duration, but 
has some funny ideas about the work involved (15d 14h etc).

Any suggestions?

On a related note, is there a comprehensive example file for mrproject?
