Suggestion: simple new plugin

Hi guys,

I had a thought today, which I found echoed in this post to the user list:

http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=5430539&forum_id=12899

This post mentions WebDAV, which I have no interest in, but my thought
was that there are lots of web scripts out there which parse .ics files
which sit in one place on the server and output appropriate (X)HTML.
Updating the .ics file is simple enough to do using sitecopy, another
FTP client or whatever you use to update your remote webserver, but my
though was that this is naturally part of the sync operation. (Sadly,
this is all theoretical for me because I haven't been able to get the
SyncML plugin working with my P900 - any tips appreciated.)

So, why not make a really simple plugin so that you could create a
`evolution > remote ICS` pair or even a `IRMC/bluetooth > evolution`
pair along with a `IRMC/bluetooth|evolution > remote ICS` pair? The
`remote ICS` plugin would hopefully be easy to program since all it
would need is for the user to give it $FTPADDR, $FTPUSER, $FTPPASS,
$ICS_URL and a few SSL/SFTP options if you were feeling ambitious!

What do you guys think? I would love to produce something myself, but am
as good as clueless atm: am doing a Computing Science M.Sc. next year so
hopefully I can soon start helping out on these sorts of projects rather
than just using them and shouting from the sidelines!

Best wishes,
Matt
