i guess you are talking about automake, right?

so you have several versions installed and multisync picks up the wrong one?

can you see if this helps (in the beginning of configure.in):

AC_PREREQ(2.58)

Hmmm... we are using pkgconfig for this so it _should_ work?

Can you please make sure that you have installed the corresponding devel
packages as well?

then please check if there is a libecal-1.0.pc file on your system like:

locate libecal-1.0.pc
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/libecal-1.0.pc

then please see if setting
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/dir/where/the/file/is/found
helps.
