What probably happend is this: when multisync starts it creates a socket in /tmp to prevent that you start multisync twice. If it shut down unclean before this socket might still be alive for some time afterwards and therefor prevents multisync from starting. Removing the /tmp/multisync-$USERNAME socket will solve this.
