dund connect problem with "noauth" argument

I'm new at this and attempting to connect a motorola a920 to ximian evolution using syncml. When I follow albatorsk's notes exactly, ie. the dund command listed below with the "noauth" argument, it says I need root permission. So if I take out the nauth argument I get the following. I want to be able to do the syncing as user so hopefully it will find the correct ximian databases to sync with. Interrupted system call(4) The other option I might try is a direct cable connection using Henik's notes. What do you mean "Give the Syncml databases some descriptive names" in section 4.1? I thought syncml would find the ximian datbases automatically? What have I missed. Where do I create these databases, and what settings do I need to change on the phone?
