Evo2 <> Palm-Sync: German Umlaute appear garbled in Evolution

Hi everyone,
I created a sync-pair for my Palm (Tungsten E connected via USB) and
Evolution 2. I then did a complete Resync to populate my (empty)
Evo-address-book with the entries from my Tungsten. I was happy to see
that all entries were copied, but then I noticed how the German Umlaute
were messed up.
I gave it a complete new second try (deleting and recreateing the
sync-pair), where I changed the codpage in the palm-sync-options to from
default ("cp1252 (Latin)" to "cp1250 (Central Europe)". No luck. Same
result.
Any thoughts?
