I'll give it a try.  The patch applied ok to the current
svn version, but I got compiler errors for undeclared
g_assert() in my_tree.cc.  I "fixed" it by commenting out
all the g_assert() statements.  Sorry for the redundancy
if this has been discussed or if there's already a patch
for it.
