I'm seeing a white background, but I haven't synced in a couple days.
Let's see...

git whatchanged testing...

The top item is:

commit 2b3517f48ba364ccc59bc3a8e43287a5ffd0d017
Author: K. Haley <[email protected]>
Date: Fri Oct 22 16:22:20 2010 -0600

fix crash posibly due to change in cairo.

:100644 100644 4ade406... b111861... M pan/gui/body-pane.cc
:100644 100644 4bf40c7... 90275bb... M pan/gui/xface.c

... which was the one that fixed the crash I reported, so I could
actually /see/ the x-faces once again. It was then that I noted they were
color-inverted.

The actual top commit is the merge commit that brought that in, apparently:

commit 397fde11b2bc726d9e0d881fa1516c6bfc0ff688
Merge: 380ce32 2b3517f
Author: K. Haley <[email protected]>
Date: Fri Oct 22 16:22:31 2010 -0600

    Merge branch 'xface' into testing

Hmm... just synced... no change.

Of course, if you're not running the testing branch, or aren't running
from khaley's git repo at all, it's unlikely you'd have seen anything at
all, since AFAIK that's what has been under discussion the entire time
(see subject, tho we've migrated from the _close detail).
