Hello Beata,

I'm not certain myself, but are you sure you are not just seeing a 
change in the file extension?  Have you checked that the .msg files are 
not plain text?  If not, I would try using the "file" command (on Linux) 
which usually does a pretty good job of saying what the file type 
actually is.
