SuSE 11.0 not synchronizing through a USB port

I had a similar problem with Ubuntu 8.04 after upgrade to Hardy, but on
a serial connection and Palm Pilot IIIe.

I re-installed the gnome-pilot applet, but still no luck so I switched
off.  Next morning after boot up it worked fine.
