Building Instructions?

Guys (and girls),

I have taken a liking to Planner and was hoping to poke around at ti and
hopefully track down some bugs posted about it. The problem I ran into is
building it. After a quick look I assumed that it would be a make managed
project and after pointing make to the Makefile.am (make
--makefile=Makefile.am) I noticed that the make files (all of them that I've
tried) all give me back the same error

Makefile.am:13: *** missing separator.  Stop.

I checked my version of make

make --version
GNU Make 3.81

and I've also look at the install instructions (
http://live.gnome.org/Planner%20Installation%20Guide) and the build
instructions for windows (http://live.gnome.org/Planner/Windows) and haven't
found any thing. Is there some document or resource that someone can point
me to. I thought I could rewrite all the make files and redo everything but
I'm figure I'm missing something.
