Your pygtk is much more recent than mine (2.0.3), which at least
explains the deprecation warnings.

This is probably code that was for compatibility with an older python.
You can try to simply remove the line. 

The bad news is, this is in an error handler, so your citation won't
probably work any better. At least you'll have an error message :-)
