pybliographic/-er start-up problem

Dear list!

Finally I'm back in the Linux world and even managed to compile Pyblio 
1.2.4 on my SuSE 9.1 Pro.
But (you might have guessed there will be something like this) when I 
try to start either Pybliographer or Pybliographic (both as root or 
normal user) I get the following error message. Any ideas what I'm doing 
wrong or lacking?

I'm running SuSE 9.1 Pro with following packages:
# Python, 2.3.3-85
# Python-bibtex-1.1.93.1-96.i586.rpm (from SuSE)
# Glib, 1.2.10-586
# GNU Recode, 3.6 patched and compiled to /usr/bin
# Gnome, version 2.x from SuSE CDs
# Gnome-Python, 2.0.0-190
