This should probably be configured on a per-field basis: for instance in bibtex, in fields used to format the actual bibliography, white space does not matter. The intention of the current code is rather to show what you would obtain when the code is processed by bibtex. However, I understand that this would be useful for annotations or any data that will not be incorporated in the generated bibliography. Frédéric
