No. I'm just looking at this from a users point of view. As an Earth 
Scientist, most of the information that I get from a paper is in line 
drawings and tables. Next in line would be mathematical expressions, 
references and links (including links to other pybliographer records) and 
lowest of all text.

I don't know anything about the internals of pybliographer but keeping a 
record of an external file reference for images at a specific path location 
might be a possible if clunky way? I'm thinking of the way in which Lyx 
handles graphics. I imagine that the images could be displayed using a plugin 
but embedding then in the normal display would obviously be better. The 
ability to extract the reference part of the pybliographer record into the 
references in a paper/report and to extract selected graphics into the body 
of the paper would be magic.

I hope that's a sensible suggestion.
