_recode patch problem

I am using Suse9.2 pro with kernel-2.6.8-24.11-default

I have been getting the recode error when trying to run pybliographer or
pybliographic.

I have downloaded recode.patch and tried to run the patch command both
in /usr/bin (where recode is) and got:
	patch: **** strip count l is not a number

I've also tried it in the source files of recode-3.6 that I downloaded from
http://recode.progiciels-bpi.ca/, and I also get:

	cinnamon:/home/ben/linux/recode-3.6 # patch -pl <recode.patch
	patch: **** strip count l is not a number

Since then, I also tried to rebuild the python-bibtex rpms and I get into
dependency hell (I didnt install Gnome desktop with Suse, maybe my mistake?)

cinnamon:/home/ben/linux/rpm # rpmbuild --rebuild
python-bibtex-1.1.93.1-3.rhfdr_core_1.src.rpm
Installing python-bibtex-1.1.93.1-3.rhfdr_core_1.src.rpm
error: Failed build dependencies:
        glib2-devel >= 2.0 is needed by python-bibtex-1.1.93.1-3.rhfdr_core_1
        recode-devel >= 3.6 is needed by python-bibtex-1.1.93.1-3.rhfdr_core_1
er-general

Curiously when I try to run #pybliographer now, I get a 'command not found'
error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
