Also which version of > MacOSX and Fink are you using (fink --version) ? The version of fink: Package manager version: 0.24.10 Distribution version: 0.7.2.rsync I'm on a PowerBook running 10.3.9 The stumbling block is the installation of gnome-python2-py23. Here is the final part of the fink log for "fink install pybliographer": /sw/bin/python2.3 setup.py install --prefix=/sw/src/fink.build/root-gnome-python2-py23-2.0.0-16/sw Warning: Too old version of gnome-vfs-2.0 Need 22.0.0, but 2.10.1 is installed running install running build running build_py running build_ext running install_lib Traceback (most recent call last): File "setup.py", line 346, in ? cmdclass={'install_lib': GnomePythonInstallLib, File "/sw/src/root-python23-2.3.5-2/sw/lib/python2.3/distutils/core.py", line 149, in setup File "/sw/src/root-python23-2.3.5-2/sw/lib/python2.3/distutils/dist.py", line 907, in run_commands File "/sw/src/root-python23-2.3.5-2/sw/lib/python2.3/distutils/dist.py", line 927, in run_command File "/sw/src/root-python23-2.3.5-2/sw/lib/python2.3/distutils/command/ install.py", line 510, in run File "/sw/lib/python2.3/cmd.py", line 333, in run_command File "/sw/src/root-python23-2.3.5-2/sw/lib/python2.3/distutils/dist.py", line 927, in run_command File "setup.py", line 73, in run self.add_template_option('VERSION', VERSION) File "/sw/lib/python2.3/cmd.py", line 112, in __getattr__ if self.intro: AttributeError: add_template_option ### execution of /sw/bin/python2.3 failed, exit code 1 Removing build lock... /sw/bin/dpkg-lockwait -r fink-buildlock-gnome-python2-py23-2.0.0-16 (Reading database ... 148053 files and directories currently installed.) Removing fink-buildlock-gnome-python2-py23-2.0.0-16 ... Failed: phase installing: gnome-python2-py23-2.0.0-16 failed Before reporting any errors, please run "fink selfupdate" and try again. If you continue to have issues, please check to see if the FAQ on fink's website solves the problem. If not, ask on the fink-users or fink-beginners mailing lists. As a last resort, you can try e-mailing the maintainer directly: Jeremy Higgs <fink-+P67C9yI/[email protected]> I did as suggested (fink self-update, etc.) with no results. An inquiry in the archives of fink-users seems to indicate that there is an old bug that has not been fixed yet. Direct requests for help on fink-users went unanswered. That's why I was surprised to hear of a successful install on Mac Os X. I must add that I gave up on the problem about three weeks ago. I just retried yesterday (with the same problems), but without re-updating the whole fink installation (which is a painful process given that I have a full Kde system running and fink absolutely loves to recompile from scratch whenever it gets a chance). Perhaps something has happened since then?
