I'm also running a Gentoo distribution, i686-pc-gnu. My kernel is a little older: 2.6.12 Same glibc 2.3.5-r2 I'm still on gcc 3.3.6 Using python 2.4.2 Also using the Gentoo emerge of recode-3.6-r1, gnome-2.12.2, and gnome-python-2.12.1. I've notice the problem for some time, but wasn't prompted to do any poking around until Ingo reported the same thing. I was using the Gentoo pybliographer package, which was 1.2.6.2. So I downloaded python-bibtex-1,2,2 and pybliographer-1.2.8 from sourceforge and installed them from source. But these also hang with the same error on the same reference set. This may be a tough one to crack if it doesn't reproduce for you. Thanks for all your help. Cheers, Mitch -- M.
