Do you mean running Pyblio (1.2) without Gnome libraries? As far as I
can tell we load, inadvertedly I suppose, quite a bunch of Gnome
libraries upon startup. This is a bad think, and bound to change in t he
future. Perhaps the people porting Pyblio to Windows have succeeded in
removing these dependencies?
Otherwise I see no way to avoid using it for the time being.

The coding in the Resource module uses a gnomevfs finction to obtain a
file's mime type. I could scout for a non-gnome function -- surely there
is -- but as long as there are other dependencies this is not so urgent,
I presume.

The connection between mime types and application is set in the Resource
tab of the configuration dialogue.
