I think this is probably the best thing to do, given everyone's feedback
about linc (no one has answered the "is it *going* to be useful as a
platform network library in the future / with some work?" question yet).
Documenting it as deprecated for a single release, and removing it for the
next release if there's no "holy shit please don't do that" feedback would
be a good precedent, if it has to go.
